Orions Resume for Lottie by dragonorion Orions Resume for Lottie by dragonorion
So, I got a job offer for the Fall.

When I first began college, I worked for the Cafeteria, which is called the Lottie Nelson Dining Hall, or Lottie for short. I liked the job, working in every department.
The head manager, however, Mr. Fritz, wasn't really what I expected a manager to be. He repeatedly harrased people, advising them on their work that they already knew how to do and requested they do things his way. It is a joke around Lottie that if anything is being done backwards or in bad quality; it was his fault.

It didn't matter to me; he was still my supervisor, and so I had respect for him.
However, sometimes he would lose his temper at employees and go off on them.
Finally, when he made an elderly Kenyan woman who worked for us cry because she was cutting a vegetable in a way he didn't like, that was the last straw.

I cordially resigned and joined Student Computer Services.
Since joining, I have been promoted three times, and though I took a pay cut in the switch, I am now making more than I would have if I had stayed at Lottie. My boss is one of my closest friends, and the work is challenging and fun.

I stayed on good terms with the Staff at Lottie, however, and last week they came to me asking if they could have me back; as their web designer. I told them I would consider it, keeping neutral. I will have a meeting with Mr. Fritz tommorow to discuss the complete details of the job. The only way I'd go for it is if they offer me an increased pay and a meal plan. Mr. Fritz has changed, I've heard, but that's the only thing that will even make me consider it.

Anyways, it got me a fly resume.

quite awesome, very unique [i guess, haven't seen many resume's...] take on a resume. great spin, shall we say?

great touches, like reversing the 'n's in your name. the bottom little vertical lines look a little odd, as the rest of it seems to be curving around in 3d and then it ends up flat.

i like the part you shaved off of the 'b', brings a little needed attention. it looks as though you added some serifs, too, and that goes quite nice too.

did you say you were majoring in mechanical engineering before you decided to switch?
funny, cuz that's the same situation i'm in... just kind of pondering what i should do and whether i should be an enginner if graphic design and art gives me so much more satisfaction...

Anyways!

great clean cut layout, nicely presented with not too much flair, but enough to show people you know what you're doing.

[you're in a class about typography? *jealous*]

The typography guru approves! Thank you very much!
I love font manipulation; taking a regular font and making it a little more interesting.

Yup, I used to be a mechie engineer! But after a lot of prayer and thinking very hard, I changed.
I realized I just had no passion for Engineering. I had the skills, the talent... but I realized I would never do it for free. What if I didn't get paid. What if I couldn't get a job? Would I want to do this for the rest of my life?

I entered engineering because of three inital reasons: I was very very spatial oriented (I can see 3D shapes in my head and understand their dimensions), I'm very handy in terms of repairing mechanical and electrical things, and I wanted to design things. Cars, bridges, buildings, that type of thing.

But what I realized I was going to be doing was not designing. I would be sitting in a cubicle doing calculations for materials to figure out how to build the creative things that designers would be handing me. Not my idea of fun.

Not to change your mind or anything. :) (j/k, my best advice would be do find a career you would do whether you got paid or not).

All the best,

~Orion
