Saluting the sun though it burns through your eyes
To follow your leaders, to covet their lies
Stretching your palm and inviting their nails
To relinquish the glory that made them so frail
To welcome their cruel words and make them your own

Treading on hearts as they shatter like glass
And they pierce your feet as you run from the past

The anger returns you once fought to the ground
When you hid what you hated and lost what I found
Friends become victims when you kiss them sweet night
As you turn to the evil you swore that you'd fight
The blood, sweat, and tears that you live

Came The Angels

Came the angels of tainted perfection
To line our hearts with ammunition
Adorned with twisted dreams of peace
To quell the fire of rapt ambition

Came the angels of newborn damnation
Fresh from the womb of brutal demise
Appeased with misfortune and vengeful souls
To gnaw our skin and gauge our eyes

And still, and still, the fires raged,
As victims fell to pre-dug graves.
Exiled creatures fresh from hell
Wished our shattered bodies well

And still, the roses failed to bloom
Crown with thorns, my blood consumed
Ebony blood runs cold as ice
Let loose with heartfelt sacrifice…
